During sintering, fine-grained particles grow together by heat to form a solid material. With this originally powder metallurgical process, high-strength plastic components can be manufactured or modified today. Here, a so-called “green body” receives its final properties by heat below the melting point (and often also by increased pressure), this means it is condensed. But it keeps its shape.
