Service & Projektmanagement bei Langzauner:

A CLOSER LOOK AT OUR SPECIALIST DEPARTMENT

Our service team and the project management team at Langzauner work closely together. With seven colleagues in the service department and three colleagues in project management & logistics, we can offer our customers a perfect all-round service from project planning to ongoing support during system operation.

When everything fits together perfectly: customized machines from Langzauner

At Langzauner in Lambrechten, logistics, project management and service management are located in a single office to ensure the very best in communication and project processes.

Project management and logistics are closely interlinked, as the logistics for large customized machines have to be taken into account during the machine design phase. From the start of the project, project management works as an interface and structures all relevant facts, such as the customer’s operating environment or freight conditions, as a means to developing a viable solution with all departments.

“A project is complete when the system is handed over to the customer. But at Langzauner, perfect after-sales support is particularly important to us. As the systems are often very complex and durable, all aspects have to mesh together perfectly, even after commissioning. The direct line between project management and the service department is very important to us in this respect. This way of working takes the pressure off our customers and enables optimum coordination of all necessary service tasks at all times,” explain project manager Bernhard Hauer and Head of Service Raphael Fellner.

Project management by technical all-rounders

Project managers at Langzauner are technical all-rounders with in-depth expertise in composite processes as well as in the fields of mechanics and electronics.

“We attach great importance to being able to competently moderate and structure technical discussions in project management. This competence is absolutely vital in project management for highly complex special machines and brings our customers great benefits in every project,” explains project manager Bernhard Hauer.

From idea to finished customized machine

“We have created a well thought-out process that enables flexibility and maximum quality in the planning, production, and commissioning of special machines from our company,” emphasizes Bernhard Hauer.

  1. Concept development: Based on the defined specifications (concept & budget), Langzauner’s project management team works together with the customer to arrive at the final concept. To achieve this, we rely on moving 3D cycle time simulations as well as the mechanical and electrical design of the special machine, closely involving the customer in this process to achieve the optimum result.
  2. Design freeze: The main parameters for the design freeze are defined together with our customer. The Langzauner team takes on the project for the mechanical production of the customized machine. One of Langzauner’s specialties is the ability to introduce relevant changes even after the design freeze. For the LZ team, perfection in special machine construction is a continuous and flexible process that takes place in close coordination with the customer.
  3. Mechanical production & planning of installation: In the next step, the customized machine undergoes mechanical production in-house at Langzauner. At the same time, the project management team works with the customer to plan the installation of the system on site. All the necessary preparatory work is precisely planned amid constant dialogue with the customer.
  4. Commissioning & pre-acceptance at LZ: Each customized machine from Langzauner is commissioned and thoroughly tested in Lambrechten. A preliminary acceptance test together with the customer on site at Langzauner is also part of the quality assurance process for our special machines.
  5. Logistics & transport: Langzauner offers all-in logistics concepts, from customs clearance and transport planning through to delivery and installation at the customer’s premises. Solid solutions are developed that ensure safe transport within the planned timeframes. An excellent partner network ensures smooth logistics processes.
  6. Assembly & commissioning: There follows the assembly of the customized machine and commissioning at the customer’s premises. Integration of the new system into the customer’s production environment is one of Langzauner’s specialties. Commissioning includes training of all system operators by the LZ service team.
  7. Start-up phase: During the start-up phase of a new system, the project manager and service department work closely together. As the special machines are often very complex, the transparent exchange of information on the overall project significantly increases efficiency and quality in the start-up phase of new systems.
“Our project management tool is an in-house development that specifically addresses the requirements of special machine construction. All processes in all departments are visualized, enabling us to ensure extremely compact and sustainable resource planning for our customers. We have also developed a dummy mode to simulate and assess all eventualities and impacts during the course of the project. Our aim is always to listen to our regular customers when it comes to the further development and retrofitting of our sustainable machines, no matter how busy we are. We achieve this with our sophisticated project management and the high level of commitment of all Langzauner employees,” explains Bernhard Hauer.

After-sales service at Langzauner: Always at your side

“At Langzauner, customers have a personal contact for after-sales service. The customer’s problem or concern is taken on board and all the necessary steps are coordinated internally in order to provide solutions quickly. Our customers don’t want to explain their concerns several times to different contacts, and with us they don’t have to. This is really important and takes a huge amount of pressure off customers in their day-to-day business,” explains Head of Service Raphael Fellner.

“We offer our customers a well thought-out, all-round service comprising preventive service offerings, support with relocations, and process optimization as well as active troubleshooting,” emphasizes Raphael Fellner.

  • Maintenance & inspection: Langzauner offers an annual system service & inspection on a date set with the customer. The Langzauner service technicians carry out a complete machine inspection including mechanical function tests and overrun measurement as well as an inspection of wearing parts. An inspection log is created (with all the comments of the LZ fitter), which is handed over to the customer. An inspection sticker displaying the next maintenance date is also attached to the system. By entering into a maintenance agreement with Langzauner, customers are investing in a maximum service life and the most trouble-free system operation possible.
  • Troubleshooting & remote maintenance: The Langzauner service team is always available in the event of system malfunctions or problems with product quality. Customers can report faults by email or phone and the task will be handled by our technical team. Our software technicians use remote maintenance to access the system and can immediately determine whether the problems are caused by the software or hardware. A solution to the problem is provided quickly and efficiently for you.
  • Training & process optimization: When commissioning new systems, Langzauner offers customized training for your system operators. Process optimization as part of production support is also part of our service offering: Our LZ software technicians analyze the production process on site and ensure that relevant parameters are optimized (e.g., pressure build-up, press opening times, optimization of cycle times, etc.).
  • Relocations, retrofits & conversions: Langzauner can also assist you with system relocations and subsequent recommissioning. To ensure optimal processes, our project management team works with the service department on the relocation process. With Langzauner, you know you’re in competent hands for control system retrofits or upgrades for system digitalization. Langzauner perfectDATA is a powerful tool for subsequent digitalization on the shop floor.

“As Head of Service, I always keep in mind that my customers’ current problem is central to their situation. A quick solution is needed and my job is to organize it. It really motivates me when a customer is happy after a service order,”says Raphael Fellner, emphasizing his approach to after-sales service at Langzauner.

Short Q&A session with the project management & service department

Why should you work in Service & Project Management at Langzauner?

Raphael Fellner: “I used to work at a very large company. At Langzauner, everything is much more informal. We’re on a first-name basis and distances are short. All the departments here work on perfect solutions together and not against each other. The great working environment and working atmosphere were the deciding factors for my switching to Langzauner.”

Bernhard Hauer: “If you’re really committed, appreciate working freely, and want to make a difference then Langzauner is the right place for you. Appreciation and transparency are important topics for us. They are the foundation for fair, performance-based remuneration – performance and commitment are honored at LZ.”

How would you rate the working atmosphere in your department and the team spirit?

“We have an employee app for joint events. In some ways it’s a symbol of our close-knit team spirit. There are always opportunities for joint activities. From prize fishing to trips to an American football game. Of course, you don’t have to go to everything, but the offer is really great. All our departments also go on their own excursions, which are subsidized by Langzauner,” explains Bernhard. Raphael adds: “There’s hardly a month goes by when Langzauner doesn’t offer leisure activities for the team.”

Are there any benefits you particularly value at Langzauner?

Bernhard and Raphael immediately agree that they’re big fans of Langzauner’s in-house restaurant, where the team meets for lunch.

“A proper meal in the open air or under an awning at lunchtime is really important to me. Our staff restaurant is heavily subsidized by the company. We only have to pay a few euros for a full meal. Our customers love it too,” says Bernhard. Raphael adds: “It’s really great and pretty unusual to have our own chef cooking fresh food for us every day. The food here isn’t delivered ready-made by a caterer. Everything is made fresh and sourced locally, and even individual requests are possible. It’s simply the best!”
